Are the beaches in Rio De Janeiro still active in July?
Hello. A friend and I are going to Rio de Janeiro in July because we are students from California and that is the only time we can go. I am hoping that locals still go to the beach in the month of July since Rio is famous for its beaches and the people that inhabit them. We want to experience the culture to the fullest and I’d be pretty disappointed to find the beaches dead except for a few other tourists like ourselves. Also, can anyone suggest where we should stay….Impanema beach or Copacabana? Also, whats the best night life to experience….Clubs, bars? Were both 20 yrs old.
I pretty much agree with Traderiam. There will still be some action on the beaches, especially on Sunday. If you decide to stay in an apartment, I recommend Vanna at www.vannarioflats.com.br. She has apartments in both Ipanema and Copacabana. Just e-mail her and tell her what you want and she’ll find a place for you. If you are males, you need to visit Help Disco one time. It’s on the south end of Ave. Atlantica. You won’t believe the women there but be careful if you take one. While it’s cooler in July, one of the best attractions I found during the evening was just sitting at a sidewalk cafe/restaurant and watching the women walking by strutting their stuff. They love to flirt. Be careful around little kids, especially a group of them. They may snatch women’s purses, rip men’s pants pockets for wallets, etc. Take only the minimum amount of cash that you need each day and keep the fancy jewelry, camera, laptop, etc. at home. Just be street smart. Enjoy.
