A few years ago, in Detroit, there was a nightclub party promoted/targeted specifically for ‘light-skinned’…?
black women only. I’ve recently seen another party very similar being promoted in Atlanta as well. What are your thoughts?
Personally, I think its incredibly offensive and divisive to the black community as a whole.
I have a few friends who lived in the area and showed me the little advertisement/flyer for it and I believe if you were darker skinned, you would have been turned away at the door of said nightclub. I was just in Atlanta and saw an eerily similiar flyer for the same kind of party-pretty sickening huh?
As a lighter-skinned person, I do not condone this mentality at all!
Its very offensive to the black community as a whole. Not only are we discriminated and looked down upon by other races. But we discriminate against each other. It shows how much we’ve been brainwashed not to accept ourselves. This is why blacks really don’t get far because we’re steady bringing down each other instead of joining together to make each other stronger. It just makes me so sad.
