White guy in a black night club with my black girlfriend?
So my black girlfriend who has never spent time in rough neighborhoods asked me to go to an all black nightclub in a not so hot part of Detroit. She has never been to this club or any club that isn’t at least 80% people from the suburbs for that matter. I would probably be the only white man there, and I wouldn’t want to deal with any rude comments to her about it, or have to stand up to someone who gets out of hand, I could see that going badly… Any advice? Should I even go?
If you don’t feel comfortable and are concerned don’t go. Trust your instincts, you’re going to be the guy in the hot seat. She’s naive, she thinks she’s safe because she black and the club is black. From experience this means nothing, she’s from the suburbs and it shows. They’ll think she slumming and might very well be mean to her. Don’t go, do what’s best for you.
