Are there any nightclubs “just” for teens around LA?
As asked.
Are there any nightclubs “just” for teens around LA? (Best in Rowland Heights, Pasadena area)
Just as in only allowing high school kids to get in.
Or if there really isn’t much, are there at least any nightclubs that allow people under 18 to enter?
Or if there is any place that holds dance parties for teens weekly? (Best on Friday)
Please, dance as in “party dancing”, not salsa dance with ties and dress shirt.
I haven’t heard of any teen nightclubs and I have a (very social) teen. One problem is that the money is made in clubs from the alcohol, and teens can’t buy alcohol. There is also big liability. I don’t know if you heard of the problems that happened in Altadena/Pasadena with underage parties awhile back. At one there was a shooting, at another a kid from South Pas High passed away from alcohol poisoning. One was in a rough area, one was definitely not. A couple of years before, a kid was shot, and he died, at a big house party. If anything happens on someone’s property to underage kids, the owner is liable, but not so much with adults.
Generally, the kids go to school dances and events, or go hang out at Old Town Pasadena or one of the malls like Santa Anita or the Americana. There is also bowling, even if you aren’t into it, it’s fun, and there is upscale Bowling 300 in Pasadena. The kids all seem to be going to Dodger games now.
In the stone age, when I was a teen in Hollywood, there were local churches that had dances in their basements. They were fun, weren’t what you’d think would go on in a church. No drugs or alcohol, but a bit more wild than school dances and lots of the *bad* kids went, so it was considered cool. I think the whole liability issue stopped churches from holding these dances. It’s really too bad they stopped, because my son loves dances. Some community centers have teen nights. Not dancing, but at least something to do. Check at the community centers closest to you.
There are 18+ clubs, but not in the Pasadena area, and believe me, they check your ID! I think the LindyGroove allows teens, but it might be too close to the salsa dancing thing for you. http://www.lindygroove.com/
