The Best Neighborhoods to Stay in for a New York City Vacation
If you have never been to New York City and are checking out places to stay from websites like Hotels.com or Priceline.com, you might already be panicking about the many different neighborhoods located throughout the city. There is no best place to stay for everyone; each neighborhood or borough offers something new and different for each visitor. Below is a list of some of the more popular places to stay in New York and some of the best neighborhoods for tourists.
Queens: Long Island City
Just across the east river, this neighborhood offers a historical industry area where fans of architecture can delight in some of the amazing structures found here. Art festivals, fashion events and fine dining are found throughout the neighborhood and many discount hotels are available throughout the area.
Lower Manhattan
This financial district offers businessmen and women easy access to many of the government and large corporation buildings. You can find boat tours offering trips to Ellis Island and around the Statue of Liberty, as well as some fine dining and amazing shopping opportunities. Much of the area was devastated by the terrorist attacks of 9/11, but it has redeveloped and is a very popular tourist destination.
Lower East Side
This chic and trendy place is where you can find Broadway shows such as Rent, vegetarian and organic restaurants and markets, as well as some of the most amazing art and culture in the city. The nightlife is thriving with bars and nightclubs on every corner, and the streets are lined with young bar hoppers looking to find some excitement.
The Meatpacking District
This was once a district full of meat packing plants and large industrial buildings, but it has been transformed into a chic and hip place to be. You will find some of the most amazing shopping, fancy restaurants and exciting nightlife in this area.
Harlem
Rich in heritage and culture for African Americans, this neighborhood offers an authentic look into old New York. While the area has undergone many renovations and changes throughout the years, the feeling of walking through the original New York City Harlem is still thriving and very apparent throughout the area.
Midtown
Midtown is probably the most visited neighborhood in Manhattan and for good reason; it is fast paced, crowded and offers a taste of the real New York City. Great shopping is found here, such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany’s and Bergdorf Goodman. The area is boasting with entertainment venues such as Radio City Music Hall, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Center and The Museum of Modern Art. The list of fine dining is endless and the easy access to other areas of the city by foot, cab or train makes this location ideal for visitors who want to see it all, do it all and enjoy it all.

Karaoke bars in New York?
We’re visting NY this holiday, and would like to find a really fun karaoke bar. We’d prefer one where the drinks are cheaper, and the singers are not so great. (since we are horrible) Rather not deal with all the broadway wanna-be’s. (We have enough of those in L.A.)
But I’ll take any suggestions. Drinks can be more expensive, but cheap drinks usually go hand in hand with bad singers. =)

Do they perform country music in nightclubs in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA back than?
I think your question may be a little bit confusing. I am not sure what you mean by “back than”. There are many casino acts and performances on just about any given night. I’m sure there are country music performances. However, I do not believe there is a specific nightclub that has a country music theme.

Where can I find a list of bars and restaurants that existed in the City of New York prior to 1899 >?
I know that prior to the early 1900′s bars and restaurants in the City of NY were licensed by the City. However ,in the early 1900s these establishments were required to turn in their licenses and become licensed by the State of New York. There is a data base with this information in the municipal archives but no one I speak to in the municipal govenment can tell me where to find it. I am attempting to compile a list bars and restaurants that existed in the City of New York prior to 1899 and are still extant. Any suggestions ?
If you go to the Library – Science and Industry on Madison and 35th Street, ask to go through the business directories – they are sorted by classification – for some of the years you’re interested in – it’s all in there. (The Brooklyn Public Library has an excellent Business Library at Cadman Plaza near Tillary Street – near the Supreme Court Building – they have this information, too)
Also, the librarian at the Mid-Manhattan branch on Fifth and 40th, in the food section should be able to help you.
Check The New York Historical Society, 2 West 77th Street, New York, NY 10024 [212] 873-3400
I can think of quite a few bars and restaurants that were opened in the nineteenth century:
McSorley’s Old Ale House in the East Village on East 7th and Third Avenue;
Chumley’s in Greenwich Village on Bedford and Barrow;
The White Horse Tavern on Hudson and 11th (not sure if this is its original location):
The Ear Inn on Spring Street;
The Bridge Cafe on Water and Dover (I think is the oldest still running establishment);
Delmonico’s on Beaver and William Streets
Fanelli’s on Prince Street in Soho
Good luck.

Sick nightclubs?
For graphics i’m designing the facade (the exterior) of a nightclub.. I’ve come up with some average ideas but I need some inspiration and ideas that I can implement and play with.. So if you have any photos of any really cool, modern/futuristic or unique nightclubs/bars.. please share!!!
Instead of using other bars for inspiration maybe you should try other sources. Watching some interesting cartoons might give you some interesting color schemes or styles check out some comic books, or magazines.
I’d even take a walk down to your local geek-store and just browse through things, maybe it will spark inspiration.

Nyc Photographer Says Lindsay Lohan Hit Him With Bmw
Who could forget the pretty actress who played the main character in popular films like “It Takes Two” and “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen”?
Shot to stardom as a young actress in Disney movies, Lindsay Lohan is now one of the most photographed starlets in the world because of her successful movies and albums. But it seems that not everything is a fairy tale for the pretty face.
New York City photographer Giovanni Arnold has recently claimed that he was hit by “Georgia Rule” actress Lindsay Lohan’s BMW. A case against the actress and her mother Dina, who was reportedly with her at the time of the accident in March 13 has already been filed, media reports say.
Marc Mauser, Arnold’s lawyer, said that his client has suffered injuries in the left and right knees and is still under medication treatment. He further said that Arnold was asking for unspecific monetary damages to suffice his unpaid work days and for the pain he was suffering.
The lawyer of the Lohans, however, was not immediately available for comment so his reactions on the case were not raised.
The NYC photographer claimed the Lohans were reckless with the vehicle.
The lawsuit which was filed last week in Bronx County Supreme Court states that the BMW was owned by Lindsay’s mother, Dina, and that the 20-year-old singer/actress was driving it with her permission.
Arnold was reportedly among the several photographers chasing Lindsay Lohan to the Hotel Gansevoort in the Meatpacking District. Lohan was reportedly coming from a nightclub when the incident occurred.
Lohan reportedly told the New York Post two months ago that one of the shutterbugs jumped on the hood of her car. This knocked Arnold down accidentally.
But according to Mauser, his client’s vehicle was not in motion, and he was just going to take a picture. Arnold was in front of the BMW when Lohan put it in reverse and then she drove. Her action threw him on the hood and so he fell on the ground. He added that the actress stopped for awhile to check on Arnold before leaving.
The Lohans were given 30 days to respond to the lawsuit.
Looks like this incident will give Lindsay Lohan a lesson before she reaches 21 on July 2.
Meanwhile, BMW, maker of quality BMW muffler, isn’t affected at all by incident. BMW cars remain a popular choice of car both to young and old alike.
