What is the best cruise for an 80-year-old widower?

My father likes to travel but has no close companions or friends that he could travel with. He recently went on a Carnival Cruise to the Caribbean and said it was ok but he said it was really geared towards younger families. It was all about the nightclubs and the pool on the cruise and he was interested in neither really. Is there a cruise out there, maybe to Europe or even Alaska, where he’d feel more comfortable and meet more people closer to his age? We can’t afford to go with him right now and we have a young baby at home, or else we’d join him.

You should go to the web site for Holland America Cruise line. That cruise line typically has the oldest passengers and by that I mean passengers age 60 and older. There may be a few young people but not many. They also have programs geared for older travelers. On their web page there is a link that you can click on to get information about registering your father for the companion traveling program. The cruise line will match your father with another person (same sex) who is traveling alone to share a cabin . Holland America cruises all over the world and he can go to Alaska, Hawaii, the Mediterranean, Europe or even take a 60 day cruise half way around the world if he has the money for that.

Another option for a more mature cruise would be on Cunard but I am not sure of they have the passenger matching program.

What is a great way to approach a girl?

Im a freshman in college and just recentley my roomate and I have decided to break out of our shells. We have been looking for techniques on the internet on the best way to approach girls. Now both of us have been with girls before, its not like we are complete losers. Its just that the girls pretty much came to us and we have never had to approach them ourselves. Should we go with the “female opinion” or just a “hey, whats up” approach? Ive looked up some clever approaches on the internet…but they seem a little over the top…do girls like that? Any advice on good approaches would be appreciated…the main place we are trying will be at the mall. There is a nightclub around were I live…but from what ive been reading, it seems harder to pick up girls at them. We are just ready to step out into the world, meet a lot girls, hopefully find the right one, and have fun with it all at the same time!

The best way to meet girls is to be yourself. Do the things you like to do, and girls who like that will be there. Then you can have natural conversations about whatever is going on. Eye contact and a smile are all you need. Then just say hi, and a comment about something that is happening around you.

Cartagena. Anywhere inside the walled city at night. Andres Carne de Res in Bogota. Any disco near the Andino mall. Youre going to hear people spout on about “La Candelaria” in Bogota. Its old, its not that safe at night. Buenos Aires has a good night life also. There are a few good ones in Villavicencio, too.

Im going to portland on business for a weekend and i wanna go out an have a good time. Do you know where I can find a good time that’s 18 and older.. I Really wanna go out and go dancing. I miss living in So Cal, and going to Hollywood and LA. Where should I go in Portland????

The only club that I know of is FX, the Zone closed down after business dropped due to the shooting.
The Crystal Ballroom is open to all ages but usually that’s mainly concerts.

I’m 15 and I am going to go to a very well known nightclub/bar/restaurant in Miami in which a family friend is going to sing at. I have no Idea how to dress, though. I thought nice jeans and a nice top with heels would do, but my mom says a cocktail dress is better. HOW DO I DRESS???? Help?

you can NEVER go wrong in a little black dress. simple, elegant, perfect. silver jewelry and strappy sandals, keep the jewelry simple but work around the neckline (necklace is v neck, skip it and go for a bracelet if round neck) and you are good to go. you can get one anywhere. even old navy has some cute ones.

dc night club that play techno/trance/house/industrial?

so im lookin for nightclubs in Wash D.C. that play like trance/techno/house and music similar, most like fur and love play like popular top 40′s stuff i want something different, anyone have any suggestions?

Check out the 9:30 club in DC…they have a very good line up of DJs spinning Trance/House/Jungle/Breakbeats etc. They venue is hosting all the big acts now that Nations nightclub (Buzz) in DC closed down last year…thats one club you missed out on…just amazing!

Go to www.buzzlife.com and you will see some upcoming DJs…though right now its only showing about 2 upcoming events. Click on the forums section and you can find out more info…plus they have a huge message board in there so you can find more specifically what you’re looking for. You can join their mailing list like I did which will send you info of upcoming acts. Get on their mailing list…it’s a good one. =)

Even though Fur Nightclub does play a lot of poppy stuff,sometimes they have really good DJs there. Saw Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and George Acosta there which were good…but I have to admit I’m prob not going back b/c I don’t like the environment. The club’s overpacked with rude people,fights break out a lot, drinks are way overpriced and they need to fix the soundsystem…it leaves your ears ringing for the entire next day.

Oh yeah,also check out Club Five on Connecticut Ave. in DC. Thats one of the best clubs around for that kind of music. Check out www.clubvibes.com and you can find Club Five and other venues that have electronic music.

White guy in a black night club with my black girlfriend?

So my black girlfriend who has never spent time in rough neighborhoods asked me to go to an all black nightclub in a not so hot part of Detroit. She has never been to this club or any club that isn’t at least 80% people from the suburbs for that matter. I would probably be the only white man there, and I wouldn’t want to deal with any rude comments to her about it, or have to stand up to someone who gets out of hand, I could see that going badly… Any advice? Should I even go?

If you don’t feel comfortable and are concerned don’t go. Trust your instincts, you’re going to be the guy in the hot seat. She’s naive, she thinks she’s safe because she black and the club is black. From experience this means nothing, she’s from the suburbs and it shows. They’ll think she slumming and might very well be mean to her. Don’t go, do what’s best for you.
